February 17, 2019

The work on Clipped-MAX continues, but it is still a few (short) months from release.  In the meantime, Toned-MAX and Limited-Z have been updated, as well as the website.

Both Toned-MAX and Limited-Z get the new “float dither” from Airwindows (read more about it here).  Before seeing Chris’s explanation, I didn’t realize that many DAW hosts are truncating plugin processing to 24 bits of precision.  After some tests, I was able to get float dither to work within both plugins by first detecting if the audio is 24 bits or not.  If the audio is standard float (24 bit), float dither will be applied to the output.  If the audio is higher resolution, then the dither won’t be applied.

For Limited-Z, float dither is always on.  For Toned-MAX, float dither is only turned on when both the INPUT and OUTPUT analog modeling is turned to 0.  The reasoning is that the natural noise and variability of the analog modeling function similarly to dither with the modeling enabled.

So, on to the website…
The website is new, looks a lot nicer, and is more mobile-compatible.  So lets celebrate with a coupon for 35% off any and all purchases from now until the end of February.  Just use the coupon code ‘newsite‘ at checkout to receive a discount.

Thanks as always,
