Overview

This privacy policy describes how personally-identifiable information is collected, accessed, and maintained by LVC-Audio.  This includes information regarding site visitors, support requests, and purchasers of LVC-Audio products.  As technology changes (e.g., different website tools, payment processing, etc.), this privacy policy may be revised or amended to reflect current practices.

 

The overall intent of this privacy policy is to comply with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as to respect the privacy of individuals that come into contact with the LVC-Audio website and products.   The following information details current practices and reasons for collecting and maintaining certain user information.

 

It is the intent of LVC-Audio to minimize the amount of personally-identifiable information that is collected whenever possible.

 

Information Collection and Processing

 

Site Visitors, Cookies, and Analytics

Cookies are used to track page visits and navigation around the various pages of the website.  This includes referring pages (i.e., pages that lead to an LVC-Audio page), as well as links that are clicked to external sites (i.e., clicking a link on an LVC-Audio page the leads to a DAW manufacturer).  This information is used for basic web traffic information (e.g.,  “total clicks”, search terms, etc.), as well as to track malicious web attacks.

 

Purchases

For users that purchase an LVC-Audio product, information is collected by a third-party payment processing agent (Paypal).  LVC-Audio creates a cart order that includes the products and prices of the order.  No information regarding the payment processing is collected on the LVC-Audio website.

 

When an order is completed, LVC-Audio receives the following information from the third-party payment processor: supplied username, email address, products ordered, transaction ID, purchase amount, purchase date/time, coupon code (if used), and shipping address.  This information is used to verify purchases and to properly distribute user registration serial numbers/keys.  Shipping addresses must be collected in order to monitor sales tax.  For USA users in the state of Pennsylvania, a 6% sales tax is included on all purchases.  No other information regarding the user’s shipping address are used.  The third-party payment agent may also retain this information.

 

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

 

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

 

Contact Forms

When visitors utilize a contact form on the site, we collect the following user-filled data: name, email address, website (if applicable), and comment.  This is strictly user-created data.  Additionally, Contact Forms also collect submission time, IP address, and the contact form URL.   IP address information is used to verify users and detect spam.  Data from the contact forms are reviewed and deleted from the website on a periodic basis (at least every 3 months).

 

Newsletter

When users opt-in to the LVC-Audio newsletter, information regarding their emails and IP address are collected.  This information is used for subsequent newsletter delivery and to detect spam.  Users may opt-out of the Newsletter program through a link provided on every newsletter.  Users that unsubscribe or do not confirm membership to the newsletter are deleted on a periodic basis (at least every 6 months).

 

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.  Currently, LVC-Audio will only embed content from video-sharing services (e.g., Youtube).

 

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

 

Shared User Data

Except as indicated above, LVC-Audio does not share or sell any user data to third-party services.  There is currently no intent to do so in the future.

 

Data Retention, Access, and User Rights

How Long is Data Retained

Comments:  For users that submit comments and the comments are approved, comments and metadata may be retained indefinitely.  This applies specifically if the comment content is deemed pertinent to the webpage.  Access to metadata is only accessed by site administrators and to block spam.

 

Purchasers:  For users that purchase an LVC-Audio product, information connected with the purchase (outlined above) is retained indefinitely.  This information includes information about the purchase, except for the shipping address.  The purpose of this data is validate legitimate purchasers for future support (e.g., lost keys, changes in email addresses, etc.).  This data is encrypted and blocked via server IP address.  No additional users access this information, except for automatic processing of registration information, or for user-triggered support requests.

 

User Rights

You may request to have any personally-identifiable information removed or exported from this website.  This includes information connected with comments, newsletter subscriptions, and purchases.  LVC-Audio will attempt to delete information from third-party resources as well; however, information on additional sites may be subject to additional privacy policies related to legal, administrative, or security purposes.

 

If a user wished to have purchase information removed, this will prevent the user from any additional support requests (e.g., “Can you resend my registration key?”).

 

Exceptions

LVC-Audio maintains user data associated with the LVC-Audio website, purchase information, and user contact via email.  Additional sites like Facebook, KVR, or other social media and user forum sites have their own policies for managing and collecting user data.  LVC-Audio will refrain from publicly posting any personally-identifiable user data on these websites; however, LVC-Audio is not responsible for other websites or individual users on these sites.  Information on additional sites may be subject to additional privacy policies related to legal, administrative, or security purposes.

 

Data Breach Procedures

In the event that LVC-Audio is able to verify a data breach that involves personally-identifiable information. LVC-Audio will attempt to notify all affected users via email as soon as possible.
