ClipShifter is a waveshaping clipping-style limiter that provides enough user controls to be useful in all mixing stages. ClipShifter uses a unique threshold control to change the clipping threshold dynamically based on the transient characteristics of the incoming audio.
The sonic characteristics of the clipping distortion can be altered from hard, brickwall-style clipping, to softer saturation with compression. Additional parameters allow the user to control the even- and odd-order components of the saturation.
The paid version of ClipShifter includes a 3-way multiband frequency control and Mid/Side processing. Specific frequencies and stereo signals can be selected for processing: fine-tuning the frequencies and stereo components that are passed to the clipping algorithm.
The paid version of ClipShifter includes true oversampling at 2x, 4x, and 8x to minimize aliasing artifacts from digital processing. Double processing ensures that peaks do not exceed set thresholds.
